My Friend's Mesothelioma and How Tarot Helped Him
Some years ago a good friend of mine was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a very serious condition that results from long-term exposure to asbestos. My friend was slowly dying, being eaten away from the inside out by his incurable condition. Obviously this took a good toll on his health and his state of being. I resolved to make a difference.
I approached my friend and wanted to introduce him to the wonderful world of tarot. I figured he had nothing to lose since he was dying of mesothelioma anyway. I wanted to help him and to allow him to become a survivor of mesothelioma, rather than a victim. People who are going through a disease such as this are often very downcast and depressed, and I didn't want my friend to feel like that.
The way I approached him was very natural, and I simply asked that, with all he was going through with his mesothelioma, would he want me to do a reading? Tarot cards are very tricky to get right, and I don't guarantee that my results are completely accurate, but I thought it would help boast his spirits if he had a favorable reading.
Unfortunately the reading was not a good one. Somehow I had managed to combine cards from a couple of my decks, and my friend was dealt both of the Death cards from among the duplicates! I tried to think of a way to interpret this so that he wouldn't be frightened and believe that he was going to die, which technically he was since he had mesothelioma, but I couldn't think of a way. The interpretation I got from the cards was that, yes, he was going to die soon, but the other cards told me that he was going to make some positive changes in the lives of others.
My friend later passed away from his condition, just as the tarot cards said he would. However, before he died he managed to reconnect with a number of his old friends and relatives, with whom he had lost touch over the years. His sad but inspiring story had a profound effect on every one of them, just as I had predicted through the power of the tarot.
Tarot cards can touch your life too. Although readings can often be powerfully influenced by a reader (often for the worse if the reader is bad), there is still some magic in them. Approach with an open mind and you too can see your life change for the better. You don't even have to have mesothelioma.
